Nigeria Professional Football League side Akwa United arrived Eket, Tuesday morning to begin a five-day pre-season closed camping in preparation for the new football season.

A team of 38 players, the coaching crew, backroom staff and some key management officials of the club made the short trip from Uyo to Eket where they will put finishing touches to the team's pre-season training programmes.

While in Eket, coach Ayodeji Ayeni will be aiming to work on his team's formation and tactical approach to matches as well as engage in some friendly games.

Team Manager of the club Sir Emmanuel Udoh revealed that the essence of the closed camping is to guarantee maximum concentration devoid of any form of distraction in the final stage of the team's preparations ahead of the new season.

The 2021 NPFL champions commenced their training session Tuesday evening at the new 18,000 sitting capacity stadium in Eket and will be expected to wrap up the camping programme on Saturday evening.

The Promise Keepers have played series of Grade-A pre-season friendly games and recorded good victories.
