In preparation for their upcoming clash against the Desert Foxes of Algeria, the Togolese Football Federation has named Franck Mawuena, a forward from Remo Stars, among their squad for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

Mawuena’s inclusion is a boost to the Togolese team as they gear up for this important fixture.

Remo Stars officially announced the exciting news on Sunday, confirming the invitation of their standout player to the Togolese national team for the upcoming 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match.

In their statement, the club expressed immense pride in the achievement: “Our striker, Franck Mawuena, has received a call-up to the Togolese squad for this month’s 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Algeria. Congratulations, Franck – we’re so proud of you.”

Franck Mawuena has been an integral part of Remo Stars this season, contributing significantly to the team’s attack. In the current Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign, he has already registered one goal and one assist in just four appearances under the guidance of head coach Daniel Ogunmodede.

The Togo national team, commonly referred to as the Sparrowhawks, will be looking to secure a vital win against Algeria to boost their chances of qualifying for AFCON 2025. Franck Mawuena will join a squad of talented players who will be battling the likes of Riyad Mahrez and other key Algerian stars. This call-up marks a significant milestone in his international career, highlighting his progression as a promising talent in African football.
