Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah was the saving grace for 7-time champions of the African Cup of Nations, Egypt against Mozambique in the group B opener, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Salah scored a late penalty to level the matters for Egypt against Mozambique to end the score at 2-2 at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Sunday.

Mostafa Mohamed opened score the Pharaohs 2 minutes into the encounter to give Egypt the lead in the first half.

In the second half, the Mozambicans scored two goals in 2 minutes with Witness Ouembo equalling score in the 56th minute.

While Clesio Bauque put the East Africans in the lead for the first time in the game 2 minutes later.

However, the African giants got a penalty which was well converted by Salah 5 minutes into additional time to share the spoils between the two sides.
