AFCON 2017 qualifiers: Free-agent Andre Ayew ruled out of Ghana's clash against Mauritius due to injury
Out-of-contract Andre Ayew has been excluded from Ghana’s squad for next week’s opening 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius at home.
The former Olympique Marseille winger is said to have picked up an injury in the back end of the Ligue 1 season.
A statement on the Ghana FA website read: “Black Stars assistant captain Andre Ayew was excluded from the squad as he is recovering from injury.”
He will be sorely missed for his explosive runs and leadership qualities.
Ayew has been busy sorting out his future after being linked with AS Roma, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Swansea.
