Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan is a major doubt for Ghana’s group C opener against Senegal on Monday due to illness.

The Black Stars captain has been unable to train with the squad for the past two days because he is suffering from a mild bout of malaria.

Gyan was admitted to hospital in Mongomo on Saturday night and was released on Sunday morning.

The illness was detected at an early stage and Gyan is responding well to treatment.

Doctors will continue to monitor his progress ahead of the Black Stars opening Group C match against Senegal in Mongomo.

luuks like our football administrators and managers dn't knw wht do apart frm talking big. do dey wnt to tell us dat in a mosquito infested c'try like ours , we took these players to de tournament without screening dem for malaria and and if any of dem are found to be positive , treated? God save us . In dis part of de world dat is wht any prudent manager shd do . After screening , those hu's results are negative shd be put on preventive drugs till dey are through with de tournament.
