Official: Christian Nwachukwu becomes a Sheffield United player
Nigeria's Christian Nwachukwu has joined Sheffield United in the EFL Championship from Bulgarian top-flight outfit Botev Plovdiv for an undisclosed fee, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The 19-year-old forward has signed a contract until 2027, with an option for two more years.
Boss Chris Wilder said: "Christian joins the club after being identified through our new data-driven transfer strategy.
"We are discovering something new here and it may take time before we see some results, but we're open to the new methods and we're looking forward to working with Christian, and others, to see how far we can go with it."
Nwachukwu commented: "I'm looking forward to coming to Sheffield to play for United and continue my development, I look forward to meeting the lads and getting started."
Nwachukwu whose move is subject to relevant documentation being lodged and approved helped Plovdiv to the Bulgarian Cup win and played a part in the Europa League.
He grabbed 5 goals and 3 assists in 33 matches for Botev, becoming our Young Player of the Year in 2024.
