Esperance coach Jose Morias has quit the club, just days before their CAF Confederation Cup return tie against Hearts.

The Portuguese announced his departure from the club during a press conference over the weekend.

The 49-year-old had been under intense pressure to quit after the side failed to win the Tunisian League while crashing out of the CAF Champions League.

He was expected to leave after the return CAF Confederation Cup against Hearts but decided to jump the ship ahead of time, citing personal reasons.

Hearts are faced with perhaps their biggest game of the year as they must overturn a 4-0 deficit from the first leg to progress to the group phase.

Esperance ended their season on a blistering form, beating Gafsa 4-1 on Sunday ahead of their trip to Accra on Thursday.

The game will take place on Saturday June 6 at the Accra Sports stadium
