17 Players Hit Super Eagles Camp Ahead Of Unity Cup Clash Against Zimbabwe
Seventeen players have now arrived at the Nigeria national football team camp in London ahead of their opening fixture at the Unity Cup against the Zimbabwe national football team, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Head coach Éric Chelle officially opened camp for the invitational tournament on Saturday, with 14 players initially reporting for duty, including eight home-based stars.
The camp received further boosts on Sunday following the arrival of forward Rafiu Durosinmi, goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, and central defender Chibuike Nwaiwu.
Nine additional players are still expected to join the squad, including captain Wilfred Ndidi and experienced winger Moses Simon.
The Super Eagles began preparations for the tournament with their first training session on Saturday at Cray Valley FC in London.
Chelle’s side is scheduled to continue preparations with another training session tonight before stepping up activities again on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s semi-final clash.
Nigeria will begin the defence of their Unity Cup title against Zimbabwe at The Valley Stadium, home of Charlton Athletic F.C.
In the second semi-final, the Jamaica national football team will face the India national football team on Wednesday at the same venue.
The final of the competition is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 30.
