Three African teams set for FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup
The stage is set for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic, taking place from October 16th to November 3rd, 2024 with Africa set to be well-represented with three teams confirmed: Nigeria, Zambia, and Kenya, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.
Nigeria, a powerhouse in the competition, returns for their seventh appearance. They dominated Liberia in the qualifiers, securing a comfortable 6-1 aggregate victory.
Zambia also returns to the global stage after a ten-year absence. The Copper Princesses edged out Morocco in a tense qualifying battle, winning 3-1 on aggregate.
The biggest story, however, belongs to Kenya! The Harambee Starlets secured a historic first-ever qualification for the Women's U-17 World Cup. They dominated Burundi with a commanding 5-0 aggregate victory, etching their name in African women's football history.
These three African teams will join a strong international field that includes England, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Korea DPR, Korea Republic, and hosts Dominican Republic.
The competition promises exciting matches and a chance for these young players to showcase their talent on the world stage.
