Nigerian club Rivers United and Coach Stanley Eguma, have ended their long standing relationship after 16 years together, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Multiple reports have it that the longest serving coach in the country’s top tier has stepped down his role his Coach of the Pride of Rivers.

It is said that Eguma was tasked to win at Remo in a rescheduled NPFL, but instead the team lost.

Eguma left the team afterwards to Porthacourt, leaving the team in the hands of assistant coach Evans Ogenyi who stepped in as head coach in their goalless draw against Kwara United in Ilorin.

Eguma has been at the helm in Port Harcourt for over a decade, both with Dolphins and Rivers United where he won the league respectively and an FA Cup title.
