Sunshine Stars on Sunday gave themselves a survival hope as they defeat South West neighbours, Remo Stars at the Akure Townhip Stadium 2-1 courtesy of Chinadu's second half brace, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The win for Sunshine Stars hampered Remo Stars hope of taking the battle for the title to the final day as it gave Rangers their first NPFL title in 8 years.

Speaking after the win, Sunshine Stars coach Kenedy Boboye commended his players for the hard-earned South West derby victory over Remo Stars.

The win boosted the Akure club’s chances of escaping the drop as they moved to 11th position on the log.

"It’s a sweet victory for us and a well deserved one, I’m glad we won, but not forgetting we still have two matches to play, I must also give kudos to the visitors, they gave us a good fight,” Boboye told the media.

Sunshine Stars who have a reschedule league game against Doma United on Wednesday need a point from their last two games to secure their safety for next season.
