Ghanaian striker Zak Ansah insists he is more concerned about helping Plymouth Argyle progress in the League Two playoffs rather than starting games.

The 21-year-old has dominated the discussions ahead of the second leg playoff match against Wycombe on Thursday night.

Ansah came on as a second half substitute to great effect in the first leg clash to score and spark a dramatic comeback in the game Argyle eventually lost 3-2.

The former Arsenal youth star has struggled for regular starting place due to the exploits of Reuben Reid.

The 20-goal top scorer has however been playing through the pain barrier with a foot injury.

Ansah’s efficiency in the first leg clash has all of the sudden made him the fan favourites to start the return leg on Thursday night.

But the former Ghana U20 prospect chooses not to focus much on the pre-match permutations.

"It's whatever the gaffer (John Sheridan) decides is best for the team, whether I start or I don't start,” he said.

"If I don't start, hopefully I can come on and make an impact. The main thing is getting to Wembley and getting promoted."

Ansah has made two starts and seven substitute appearances for Argyle since arriving on loan from Charlton Athletic in late March.

The former Arsenal prospect scored on his debut when he came off the bench in a 3-0 win away to Cheltenham Town.

Ansah and Banton were used as 53rd minute substitutes by Sheridan in the first leg against Wycombe, with the Pilgrims trailing 3-0.

Their late goals kept alive Argyle's hopes of securing a play-off final place.

Ansah continued: "The gaffer said to us both before the game 'always be ready and focused because you could change the game for us' and, luckily, me and Bants did that for the team."
