Wikki Tourists will open fresh contract negotiations with their head coach, Abdu Maikaba immediately after he submits his technical report for the just concluded season to chart the way forward for next season.
Maikaba has been linked with several top clubs in the land although the coach has come out to deny such reports but his body language denotes that he could leave for another club if Wikki do not act fast.
The chairman of the Bauchi side, Isa Matori told SportingLife that he is very confident that Maikaba won’t work away from the work he started and that they are sure he would remain with them ahead of next season because of the level of support and freehand they accorded him in Bauchi.
He said they are not giving anything to chance and that they are expecting him to come forth with his technical report for the past season from where they will open fresh contract extension with him before the expiration of his current one which elapses at the end of October.
“We are aware of the interest shown in our coach but we know he won’t leave us at this point in time. We have given him all the support and the freehand he wants which will be difficult to get elsewhere. He is presently working on the technical report for last season and we expect him to come with it from where we will open fresh contract talks,” Matori told SportingLife
Under the tutelage of Maikaba, Wikki came third in the just concluded season with 57 points from 36 matches and they gained a berth in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
