The US tactician spoke at the press conference ahead of the match between nine-time African champion and 2011 world champion, Japan in Kobe on Wednesday.

Waldrum admired the Japanese women team and knows what to expect playing against a side as Japan.

"I have been a very long admirer of Japan, they are world power, so I definitely know what the match will bring.  We know it is a very disciplined and organised team.

The Super Falcons went ahead to reveal other great qualities that make his team's opponent a compact team which makes the tie more difficult.

"I think the one that has impressed me over the last few years is they've maintained the quality of the players that they've always had with the technical ability and the skill of the players, but now they've even evolved by getting more stronger and physical players as well so we know the challenge is going to be difficult, but it will be a great experience for us in terms of preparation for the world cup," He said.

Waldrum added that this type of matches against the best teams in the world are played because they know that is what it is going to be like at the world cup.

The two countries will face off at the Noevir Stadium in Kobe, Japan on Thursday.
