Fran Escriba has previously managed Elche and Getafe.
Villarreal have sacked manager Fran Escriba following Sunday's 4-0 defeat against newly promoted Getafe.
Escriba, who was appointed in August 2016, led the club to a fifth-place finish last season.
However, he has been dismissed following a start to this campaign in which the club took seven points from the first six games, including defeats against Levante and Real Sociedad in their opening two fixtures.
In an official statement the club said they hope to announce Escriba's replacement later on Monday.
