The German Football Association have banned Victor Boniface for one DFB-Pokal match and fined him €25,000 for unsporting conduct, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

The Nigeria Super Eagles forward appeared to show his middle finger towards VfB Stuttgart players while celebrating Bayer Leverkusen's penalty shootout win in the DFL-Supercup final.

Stuttgart players had accused Victor Boniface of celebrating by showing them the middle finger after the end of the German Super Cup match!

Until now, there was no confirmation of the incident in television footage until television footage showed the act by the player.

Simon Rolfes, Leverkusen's sporting CEO: “There was a lot of emotion involved, but something like this is unnecessary. Boni has to let it go.”

Leverkusen have since acknowledged and accepted the punishment for the player.
