Ghana defender John Paintsil insists he expecting a return to the Black Stars despite being considered to be in the twilight of his career.

The 33-year-old who currently plays for South African club Maritzburg United has not played for Ghana since the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Paintsil is part of group of players including the likes of John Mensah, Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari considered as the golden generation of the Black Stars.

Many however believe this crop of players are approaching the end of their international careers despite their continued activity at club level.

The former Fulham right-back is however adamant he has more left in him to offer to the Black Stars.

“I will keep working, anytime the time comes, I will be ready,” he told Metro TV’s Kickoff show.

“Ghana is my country and I have more to give.

“My engine tells me I can do more – the JP engine is still running.”

Painstil has been with the black Stars for over decade during which period he has played in two World Cup finals and six editions of the Africa Cup of Nations.
