UWCL: Oshoala's Barcelona beat Ayinde's as Rosengard, Ucheibe's Benfica fall to Bayern
It was a day of missed feelings for Nigeria Super Falcons players in the Uefa Women's Champions League on Thursday, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
African footballer of the year, Asisat Oshoala's Barcelona feminine continued their impressive start to the champions league after beating Halimatu Ayinde's Rosengard.
The Spanish Champions were four goals to one better than the Swedish Champion in Malmo, Sweden.
Oshoola started the encounter, playing well to help her side to an emphatic victory once again away from home.
A first half brace by Aitana Bonmati in the 30th and 41st minutes saw Barcelona lead until the home side pulled one back before the dead of half time through Oliver Holdt.
Mariona Caldentey would later score her own brace to cement the win for Barcelona.
Ayinde was an unused substitute in the the encounter.
For Christy Ucheibe's Benfica, it was another defeat for the Super Falcon's defender as she couldn't prevent her side from losing to Bayern Munich.
They lost their second match by 2-3 at home after their first loss to Barcelona last week.
Benfica let a two-goal lead slip off their hands in the game. Brazilian Nycole Raysla scored for the hosts three minutes to the end of the first half.
Cloe Lacasse made it two in the 59th minute, but Bayern came back to the game as Maximiliane Rall scored in the 67th minute.
Georgina Stanway did the magic scoring twice in the 82nd and additional time to steal the victory for Bayern Munich.
