Nigeria Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers says his teammates can be proud of their display against Olympiacos after their 1-1 result in Greece on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Dessers believes the Rangers squad showed their quality as they came from behind to draw 1-1 with Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “It was a very good team performance against a team with a lot of quality, in a special atmosphere so I think we can be proud.
“I think we were really compact as a block and they only had one chance which they finished amazingly but I think we didn't give away anything and I think credit to the team.
“It says something about the team, how we react every time, but to get our goal quickly after theirs was a good sign that we were going to take something here today and so we did.”
The former Cremonese striker expresses delight over his goal was proved handy for the Scottish side earning a point.
On his goal, Dessers continued: “I think we were close in midfield a few times and then Vaclav got his foot in between and made an interception and he sent me through.
"I saw the defender coming so I faked a little bit that I was going to shoot early then I could chop him and take the ball past him, and I had a nice finish, it dropped in the bottom corner. It went fast on instinct, so I am happy with the goal.”
He hopes the result keeps the team confident ahead of their subsequent matches in the competition.
He added: “With seven points against the teams we have played already we can be really happy with that.
"We have some big fixtures still coming but this should give us confidence and should give us hope that there is something possible now and we can hopefully qualify for the next round.”
Rangers play struggling Hearts this weekend at Ibrox Stadium.
