Super Eagles defenders, Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo, have congratulated Nigeria U-23s following their 5-4 win against Japan in their first Group B game at the Rio Olympics despite arriving there just hours before kick-off  Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Reacting to the win, Balogun singled out the duo of William Troost-Ekong and four-goal hero Oghenekaro Etebo for praises.

"Wow, just woke up to this crazy result. Must have been an exciting game. Congrats Troost-Ekong and our Dream Team," the Mainz 05 defender wrote on his Twitter handle.

"Great job Etebo!! Never seen a tournament where the top scorer was certain after the first match."

On his part, Omeruo hailed the team for starting on a winning note, urging the players not to relent.
