Nigeria's Ex-International, Peter Rufai has urged the Flying Eagles to win the third place match against Tunisia in the African Cup of Nations AFCON U-20 to redeem their image, Nigeriasoccernet.com has gathered.
The former Nigeria Men's National team goalkeeper told complete sport that the team needs to put behind them the loss to Gambia in the semi final on Monday and forge ahead.
“I don’t think it will be ideal for the players to be blaming themselves for the mistakes that cost them the game against Gambia. Mistakes are bound to happen in football.
“What should be their major focus at this point is how the team will beat Tunisia in the Third-Place match. That’s the only way they can redeem their image.
He stated further that he will be happy if the team goes ahead to win the bronze medal of the competition.
“For me, I will be delighted if the team wins the Bronze medal at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.”
The Junior Eagles will square up against the young Carthage Eagles on Friday at the Cairo International Stadium, Egypt.
