Former Hearts of Oak great Charles Taylor insists there is no way the side can recover from the 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Esperance to qualify to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Phobians were punished with four unanswered goals for their woeful display against the Tunisian giants on Sunday.

The emphatic defeat leaves Herbert Addo with a nearly impossible task of qualifying for the money zone of the Confederation Cup at the expense of Esperance.

But some players and fans of the side remain hopeful the Phobians can repeat past heroics to recover from their crashing defeat.

Former player Charles Taylor who was part of Hearts’ historic win over Esperance in 2000 to clinch the Champions League sees no way back for the Phobians this time around.

“It is true this is football but there is no way Esperance will come to Accra and concede four,” he said.

“There is nothing that suggests Hearts can do it.

“They [Hearts] can win but there is no way they can score that much.”

Hearts will host Esperance in the second leg of the Confederation Cup tie in Accra on June 7.
