The much-anticipated international friendly clash between Nigeria's Super Eagles and world champions Argentina has been canceled, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Reports indicate that the cancellation stemmed from insufficient time to process visas for the Nigerian delegation.
Originally slated to be held in China, the match was relocated to the United States of America after a dispute arose between Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Chinese authorities.
As a result, Argentina will now face off against Costa Rica instead of the Super Eagles. Additionally, Los Albiceleste have another friendly encounter scheduled against El Salvador in March.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will need to seek out a different opponent as they gear up for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
