Super Eagles stars would rather play next month’s AFCON qualifier against Lesotho in Uyo and not make a long-awaited return to Lagos.

Nigeria will host Lesotho in a final AFCON qualifier on March 30 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, 10 years since they played there against Sierra Leone.

Coach Gernot Rohr has now said his players would have preferred the game was played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, where they have played most of the home games for the past four years.

“The second game (vs Lesotho), we will do it in Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos,” Rohr told ESPN.

“But my players they like Uyo because of the facilities at the stadium.”

When the Eagles beat Sierra Leone 2-1 in 2011 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium it was on an artificial pitch, but the venue now boasts of a natural grass pitch.
