Akpeyi was part of 10 players the club deemed surplus requirements with coach Baxter also relieved of his duties.

“He brings in a lot. Honestly speaking, he is someone that I’d love to work with for the rest of my life if I can. Because he brought out a lot of me, he changed a lot of things in my game,” he said

“I thank God I was offered to learn. Coming to Chiefs, even though I had a profile but there was a lot that I was lacking and learning under him. He was open and helped my game.

“He actually put me on the level where I am today, in the game. He helped us a lot, with set-plays and all that against other teams. So he’s very good at his job. It’s just sad that, for now, we had tom the club," he said.
