The 22-year-old had been the subject of attention from a number of clubs across the continent, but has committed his future to Spurs after making just under 100 appearances for Lyon.

Ndombele joined Lyon in the summer of 2017, initially on loan, from Amiens and quickly established himself as a key performer for Les Gones, making his senior international debut in October 2018 in a friendly against Iceland.

Meanwhile, teenager Jack Clarke has also completed a move to Spurs from Leeds United, although the 18-year-old winger will spend next season back at Elland Road on loan.

Having put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Champions League finalists, Clarke told his new clubs official website: "I'm delighted to join Tottenham and, in the short term, I'll be giving my all to hopefully help Leeds win promotion.

"Obviously Mauricio (Pochettino) is one of the best coaches in the world, a top, top manager. Hopefully he can help me push on."

Prior to the signings of Clarke and Ndombele, Spurs had not added to their first-team squad since drafting in Brazilian forward Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of January 2018.

Last season the Londoners finished in fourth place in the Premier League, while also making all the way to the final of the Champions League, where they were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool.

Spurs are priced at 8/15 to secure a top-four league spot again next season, while they are 20/1 to win the Champions League.
