Head coach of the Nigeria U-23s Samson Siasia will have to drop one player from his final 18 man list for the male football event of the Rio 2016 Olympics following the shock arrival of Genk of Belgium midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
Media officer of Dream Team VI Timi Ebikagboro confirmed Owngoalnigeria.com leaks when he posted on his twitter handle the arrival of the player whose goal was voted as the best goal in Belgium last season.
Ndidi was earlier stopped from the Nigeria Olympic team by his Belgian clubside but the 19 year old breezed into the team’s camp in Atlanta yesterday evening throwing the coach into the dilemma of needing to drop one defender from his list of selected player to make room for the highly rated defender.
The coach will have to decide which defender will be released for Ndidi who is reportedly on the transfer wishlist of Watford and Hamburg in Germany with initial report suggesting one of the trio of left full backs in the team could be sacrificed.
Ndifreke Effiong we exclusively gathered could be axed for Ndidi to come into the squad where he will most likely pair William Troost Ekong in central defence even though he can also play as a midfielder, the role he currently plays for his Belgian side.
