Turning 60 on October 1st, Walter Mazzarri is idle since February 2020, when he was sacked by Torino, after an over 2-year long tenure. Previously linked to Cagliari, which have however just confirmed Leonardo Semplici as their first-team manager, the Tuscan trainer was reportedly just offered to both Lazio and Sampdoria, which are turning being still gafferless.

Mazzarri is however unlikely to join either: while Blucerchiati are already tying the knot with another former boss of theirs, namely Marco Giampaolo, Rome-based club look rather interested in many further names, including Nuno Espirito Santo, Maurizio Sarri, Sinisa Mihjalovic, and Vincenzo Italiano. To date, Mazzarri looks rather likely to get a job outside Italy, also out of his past Watford campaign, dating back to 2016/17.
