The Senegalese Football Federation has denied submitting bid to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

The 2025 continental competition was supposed to be staged in Equatorial Guinea but the local football governing body in backed down having realized they could not provide adequate infrastructure.

Senegal's name was prominent among the list of countries which includes Morocco, Algeria, Zambia and Nigeria and Benin ( joint bid) that show interest in staging the competition.

The federation however on Monday released a statement to deny the media reports via BSN sport.

"The Senegalese Football Federation informs public opinion that Senegal is not a candidate for the organization of CAN 2025, contrary to what some media have recently announced.

“Senegal's sports authorities are currently focusing on the construction and rehabilitation of sports infrastructure across the country in order to be able to host a major continental competition in the near future", the statement read.

The denial then leave the bidding competition strongly Morocco and Nigeria who made their intention know under the former federation president Amaju Pinnick.
