The Nigeria striker came on for Pablo Maffeo in the 61st minute and settled the match six minutes later, giving Javier Aguirre his first win since becoming Valencia manager in September.

Aguirre was pleased to have Sadiq available again and praised the impact of the Super Eagles forward after his lengthy absence.

“It’s a joy for everyone. We also had the 0–2 opportunity, and I don’t know what happened in that play. Elche CF had their chances too. The victory feels good,” Aguirre told Valencia’s official website.

Sadiq’s goal provided Valencia with a crucial result, although Elche had opportunities of their own during the match.

Aguirre also said his side would not lack motivation ahead of their next challenge.

“We don’t need any extra motivation. We’re playing against one of the best teams, and hopefully we can put in a good performance.”
