Rwanda begin preparations for AFCON qualifiers

Rwanda's national team, the Amavubi, have commenced training for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The team is currently honing their skills on the training pitch of the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

Head coach Torsten Spittler recently announced a 36-man preliminary squad for the two matches, which includes a mix of experienced players and new talent.

The German tactician is expected to trim the squad by the weekend, ahead of their crucial qualifying fixtures.

Rwanda will first travel to Tripoli to face Libya's Mediterranean Knights on September 4, before hosting Nigeria's Super Eagles at the Amahoro Stadium just three days later.

The Amavubi will be seeking to make a strong start to their qualifying campaign, and Spittler's squad selection will be crucial in determining their chances of success.
