Remo Stars bow out of CAF Champions League

A 2-0 defeat at the Stade Prince Moulay EL Hassan Rabat, Morocco to AS FAR on Sunday night ends Nigeria's Remo Stars CAF Champions League campaign, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Ikenne based team despite winning he first leg 2-1 at home could not score the much needed away goal that could have pushed the game into an extra-time ans possibly penalties.

Held their host to a goaless first-half, Remo Stars solid wall got breached by AS FAR Joel Beya in the 52nd minutes, a goal that levelled the aggregate scores and put the Morrocan side ahead with the away goal rule.

As Remo Stars push for the leveller, the referee awarded a penalty to the host with El Amin Zouhzouh making no mistake from the spot to extend AS FAR lead on the night.

All attempts by the Nigerians to pull one back got thwarted by the resilent defense of the Morrocans who progressed 3-2 on aggregate.

The defeat ends Remo Stars 2024/25 CAF Champions League campaign. This is also the second time AS FAR will send Remo Stars out of CAF competition having previously done that during the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round campaign.
