Algeria coach Christian Gourcuff says he is preparing his team to ‘take care’ of the threat of Asamoah Gyan who is likely to start for Ghana on Friday.

The prolific striker sat out Ghana’s opening Group C defeat to Senegal due to illness.

Gyan is however likely to return to the Black Stars’ line up for Friday’s crucial game having done light training with the side.

His possible return will add more bite to the Ghana attack which failed to convert some glorious opportunities in the defeat to Senegal.

But Algeria coach Christian Gourcuff is well aware of the threat posed by the 29-year-old and says he is preparing his team to adequately deal with this danger.

“He [Asamoah Gyan] is a very good player and we are also prepared to take care of him,” the Algeria trainer said at his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

Ghana go into the game against Algeria desperate for a result to resurrect their campaign in Equatorial Guinea.

Another defeat will spell doom for Avram Grant’s side who are now third in Group C.
