The 29-year-old Belgium international had been almost unanimously expected to start against the Saints at Wembley, with compatriot Jan Vertonghen missing the game as he serves a one-match suspension.

However, Pochettino says he has yet to decide on his line-up, with the Argentinian considering moving Eric Dier to centre-back to partner Juan Foyth.
He told reporters: "We'll see, there are different options. Eric Dier can play there.
"It's about trying to be right and in the end win the game, that's the most important thing, but of course we come from a competitive week and we are going to face another competitive week.
"Wednesday Southampton, Saturday Leicester and then a must-win game against Barcelona.
"We're going to play a lot of games before January. It's so important to keep all involved and in the best condition to compete. Some players, maybe, we cannot rotate for different circumstances.
"But players that we believe we can rotate, we will give the possibility, players who maybe need to rest. You know me, I'm not going to change my mind because we win or lose."
Last season Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as Spurs swept the Saints aside 5-2 at Wembley, with Dele Alli and Son Heung-min also getting on the scoresheet.
Tottenham are 4/11 to take all three points on Wednesday, with Kane 8/15 to score at any time and 21/10 to score two or more goals in the game.
