Pep Guardiola says his Manchester City team simply to focus on trying to improve their performance in every game and not on their ongoing title challenge.

The Citizens are five points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool after a midweek round of games saw City lose 2-1 at Newcastle United, while the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City.

Every game is a challenge to see what we can do better and how we can beat the opponent.

However, Guardiola says his only focus remains on trying to improve his own team and not get drawn into worrying about the current gap between the Blues and the Reds.

He told reporters at his pre-match press conference, ahead of a Sunday visit from Arsenal: "It doesn't matter how many points we are behind, we have to improve our game.

"We have done it before and we can do it again, but nothing changed whether we are one or two points behind or five, six, or seven. There are a lot of points to play for and a lot of things to happen.

"We are not happy about the last performance. Everyone knew at half-time and at the end of the game.

"Every game is a challenge to see what we can do better and how we can beat the opponent. There are a lot of games and to sustain it is tough, that's the challenge."

Earlier this season the Citizens claimed a 2-0 win over the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium and they are 17/2 to repeat that winning scoreline at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

City are 11/8 to keep a clean sheet against Arsenal, while Raheem Sterling is 20/21 to score at any time in the game.
