Former Celtic goalkeeper Packie Bonner has hailed Kelechi Iheanacho for his decisive impact in Celtic’s 2–1 win over Hibernian at Easter Road, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Iheanacho came off the bench to score the winning goal, continuing a strong pattern this season where six of his seven goals have come as a substitute.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Bonner admitted Celtic made the game difficult for themselves but praised the Nigerian striker’s quality in key moments.
He described Iheanacho as a “proven striker” who may not always last the full 90 minutes but consistently delivers when called upon, adding that his winning goal was “really, really good.”
Celtic remain in pursuit of top spot in the Scottish Premiership and will next face arch-rivals Rangers F.C. in the highly anticipated Old Firm derby on Sunday.
