Injured Senegal winger Sadio Mané has joined his teammates in camp despite doubts about his availability ahead of their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations opener Ghana.

The Southampton man is being assessed by Senegal’s medical staff after being named in their final squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 22-year-old is caught in the middle of a club versus country battle after Saints boss Ronald Koeman insisted his winger will not be fit to play at the tournament with a calf injury.

Mané was yesterday confirmed in Alain Giresse’s squad for the finals, with their first game scheduled for Monday 19th January.

But Senegal coach Alain Giresse has named him in his 23-man squad, ordering him to report for duty so the national team's doctor can examine him.

The 22 year-old is due to join up with Senegal at their training camp in Morocco tomorrow, at which point Giresse and his staff will decide whether he is fit to take part in the tournament.

"Well he has arrived and will be assessed by the team doctor,” FA president Augustin Senghor said.

Senegal have been placed in Group C for the tournament, which takes place in Equatorial Guinea between 17th January and 8th February.

The Lions of Teranga face Ghana on 19th January, South Africa on 23rd January and Algeria on 27th January, with the top two teams from each of the four groups progressing to the quarter-finals.

Senegal are making their 13th appearance at the finals, and are aiming for their first-ever African title having missed the previous tournament in 2013.
