On 22 January 2011 Diego Simeone made his coaching debut in Serie A, after playing in the early 90s with the Pisa shirt. After becoming Catania coach, Simeone made his debut in a 0-2 loss at Parma. His adventure in Italy ended at the end of the 2010/11 season, with a score of 7 wins, 3 draws and 8 defeats in 18 games.
