NPFL:Gambo To Undergo Head Injury Tests After a mid-air collision with Rivers United
Kano Pillars captain, Gambo Mohammed, will undergo further tests on Wednesday to ascertain if he is fully fit to return to action after he sustained a head injury in his side's match day 12 fixture against Rivers United last weekend.
The forward was immediately taken to the hospital after he suffered a rupture of the tympanic membrane following a mid-air collision with Rivers United Ghanaian hitman Wilson Andoh.
Gambo, Completesportsnigeria.com learnt, travelled back to Kano on Tuesday accompained by Pillars team doctor and secretary. "Gambo will have further tests today (Wednesday) at the Murtala Mohammed Teaching Hospital, Kano to ascertain how far he has recovered from the head injury," the media Officer of the club, Idris Malikawa, Said:
"We thank God he is back on his feet after that scary scene at the weekend.
"We must also commend Rivers United doctors and their officials for their efforts in making sure he gets back on his feet as soon as possible.
"At the moment, we don't want to rush him even though he is an important member of the squad.
"We will wait on the results of the test to determine when he will be available for selection again."
Gambo, who has been capped at full international level by Nigeria, missed the start of last season after sustaining gun shot injuries following an attack on Kano Pillars team bus on their way to honour a league match against Heartland Football of Owerri.
