NPFL'23: Please be patient with us - Ogunbote to Shooting Stars fans

Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote has appealed to the teeming fans of the Ibadan Soccer Lords not to abandone the club over the below par performance recorded in the first stanza of the Nigeria Premier Football League ending it with a 2-2 draw against the visiting team, Akwa United at Lekan Salami, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Sunday.

The oracle stated this in an exclusive interview with Ibadan based journalist, Sunday Agunbiade (Mr VAR) shortly after sharing the spoil with the Promise Keepers in the match Day 9 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

In his words:

"I sincerely wish to apologize to our teeming supporters for the kind of below par results we chunned out in the first stanza of the league. We have actually disapointed them as we have not met their expectations but I just want to enjoin them not to lose confidence in us. Shooting Stars is their team and we are going to come back strongly. We implore them to show us more love in this trying period. We need them behind us to churn out good results. We are not happy too but that is football."

Explaining why the team fell short of expextations having won the Pre season prize, the former Rangers FC and Remo Stars handler noted that effects of injuries and lack of confidence amongst few ones account for the abysmal results.

"Mr.VAR, let me assure our teeming supporters that there is going to be a few additions into the team before the commencement of the second stanza. We have injury worries and lack of confidence amongst few players but that is not an excuse.

"We still have three weeks to make adjustments and we are going to go clinically in all departments to effect these changes in the next three weeks. Also, we are going to harp on tactical discipline to change the fortune of the club. The former Lobi Stars gaffer assured.

Shooting Stars occupies 6th position on the log with 10 points having played 9 matches, win 2, draw 4, lose 3, Goal favour 11, Goal against 13 and -2 Goal difference. The league will go on three weeks break for the forthcoming General election slated for February 25 and March 11 respectively.
