Abia Warriors midfielder, Anthony Okemmiri says bonding with his football-playing brothers has been his source of inspiration and secret behind his current form in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) this season.

The midfielder who was voted man of the match and scored one of two goals that helped Abia Warriors to a hard fought win at home to visiting Lobi Stars last Sunday, told npfl.ng, he became a better player by adopting a listening approach and toeing the line of his brothers in terms of discipline, as well as being committed to the game.

"I am from a football home. My entire life has been football. We are five in number actively playing football. Ilechukwu plays for Lobi, Chuibuke plays for Kwara United, where I began my career, while Ogbonnaya is here with me. I have always subjected myself to listening and learning from them, and that has helped me a lot. They have always been there for me and helping me build my career professionally by telling me what to do and at the right time.

"My brother (Ogbonnaya) has motivated me a lot and inspired me to be more focused and positive. When I arrived here (at Abia Warriors), it was a bit tough, but he helped me settle down quickly. It has been an amazing experience playing alongside him in the same team," he said.

Anthony has been an integral part of the Umuahia side in the current campaign and has been courted by top clubs in the Nigerian Professional Football League, since joining the club from Sharks FC in 2014.
