Remo Stars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede has termed his side's finish in second position at the end of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season as a failure, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Ija ball tactician spoke after the Sky Blue Stars wrapped up the season with a 2-1 win over Katsina United at the Remo Stars Stadium on Sunday.
Ogunmodede said for him personally he would have wanted to take it a step further by winning the league hence he will term the team's placing after 38 matches as a "total failure" on a personal note.
He congratulates his players and the club for what they achieved this season, but he would term the project this season as failure as they could not better their last performance of finishing second.
"For the group, for the team, I say congratulations, is a fantastic performance. Personally, as the gaffer I'm so proud of them, very proud of their performance, there resilience, discipline, hard work through the season, I want to say congratulations to them and the club, but for my personal target I term as a total failure for me because the target from the beginning of the season is clear and is to be one step ahead of where we were last season. We finished second last season we want to be first this season obviously, but unfortunately we couldn't we slipped and we came back second."
The Coach of the Ikenne based side states further that they want to better always as they seek to go the second time in the CAF Champions League in the 2022025 season.
