Enyimba International FC has dismissed reports claiming the club slashed players’ salaries by 50 percent following their recent 1–0 home defeat to Wikki Tourists FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the club described the report as “misleading” and a “figment of the writer’s imagination,” insisting that no such decision was approved or implemented by the management.
According to the club’s media department, Enyimba remains committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism in its relationship with both players and staff. The club emphasized that all official updates and decisions are communicated only through its verified channels.
The statement also expressed concern that the false information originated from a supposedly reputable media organization without any attempt to verify the claims with the club or its management.
Despite the controversy, Enyimba reiterated its respect for the media and reaffirmed its focus on returning to winning ways. The club stated that it will continue to collaborate with media partners to promote its activities and contribute to the overall development of the NPFL and Nigerian football.
