New signings Roy O'Donovan and Tom Aldred are contenders to take over as Brisbane Roar's captain.
The pair shared the armband in Robbie Fowler's first game in charge of the club when the Roar beat NPL side Redlands United 3-0 in a friendly on Saturday.
Welsh forward Aaron Amadi-Holloway marked his first appearance with the final goal in the second half. Youngsters Mirza Muratovic and Rahmat Akbari were on target before the break, when the team were captained by English defender Aldred.
Former Central Coast and Newcastle Jets striker O'Donovan took over the duties in the second half when Fowler used a different XI. The coach says the recruits are among those being considered to replace club legend Matt McKay as skipper.
"At this particular time, I just felt Tom and Roy have shown great leadership but that's not to say the others aren't," said Fowler. "It's a tough choice for me to make."
Another candidate for the role is defender Jack Hingert but he is unlikely to be fit for the start of the season as he recovers from an ACL injury.
Brisbane went ahead against Redlands with an 11th-minute strike from Muratovic.
Akbari doubled their advantage just before the break and Amadi-Holloway completed the scoring with a cool finish from a tight angle after being played in by fellow new boy Brad Inman.
Fowler added: "We've been back a couple of weeks now working to implement what we did on the pitch. I think it's been good today. A few little things to work on but I think the general play today was fantastic."
The Roar have four more pre-season matches before starting their campaign with an FFA Cup round-of-32 clash with A-League champions Sydney FC on 7th August at Leichhardt Oval.
Brisbane Roar are 16/1 to win the A-League Grand Final and 25/1 to win the FFA Cup.
