Following racist comments directed at England players during their World Cup qualifier in Hungary, FIFA promised to take action, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson calling the acts "absolutely unacceptable" on Friday.

During England's 4-0 victory against Hungary at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on Thursday, monkey chants were aimed towards Raheem Sterling and Jude Bellingham.

The victory was overshadowed by the abuse directed at the visitors' black players. Manchester City forward Sterling scored the opening goal in the comfortable win, but the result was overshadowed by the abuse directed at the visitors' black players.

A rowdy home audience also hurled missiles and a flare into the ground.

"It is completely unacceptable that @England players were racially abused in Hungary last night," British leader Johnson wrote on Twitter.

"I urge (world governing body) @FIFAcom to take strong action against those responsible to ensure that this kind of disgraceful behaviour is eradicated from the game for good."
