Holders of the MTN FA cup Asante Kotoko posted a much needed 1-0 victory over Real Tamale United to a set up a quarter final date against regional rivals AshGold.
Striker Obed Owusu scored the all-important goal on the 90th minute to give David Duncan a must needed respite.
Kotoko fielded a very strong side which included Joseph Addo, Latif Mohammed and Ahmed Toure for the game but had to wait until the 90th minute before breaking the deadlock.
Real Tamale United gave a good account of themselves with midfielder Yusif Yakubu deserving praise after giving a good account of himself despite coming up against the challenge Jackson Owusu and Jordan Opoku.
Kotoko goalkeeper Joseph Addo was also refreshing to watch after pulling off a goal bound save early in the second half to ensure we did have an upset.
