Barcelona have one foot in the Champions League knockout rounds but they're not quite there yet after they were held to a goalless draw by Olympiakos on Tuesday.

Lionel Messi forced Silvio Proto into four decent saves and Luis Suarez hit the bar but Barca could not find a way through at the Karaiskakis Stadium.

Ernesto Valverde's side now need one point from their final two games -- away against Juventus and at home to Sporting Lisbon -- to guarantee their passage into the last 16.

Positives

The unbeaten run goes on. Barca are now without defeat in 15 games in all competitions, winning 13 of them. In addition to that, they've also kept 11 clean sheets in that period, a sign of how tough Valverde has made them to beat.

Negatives

Olympiakos always looked like they were happy with a point and Barca were unable to come up with a way to break them down. Messi was once again their most likely source of a goal and this felt like a missed opportunity for some of the other players to prove a point to the coach.

Manager rating out of 10

6 -- Valverde was given a hero's welcome at the club he led to three Greek titles and his Barca side did little to ruin the relationship he has with the Olympiakos fans. Injuries and suspensions dictated his lineup, but his changes weren't able to influence a game which teetered on boring at times.

Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best. Players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)

GK Marc-Andre ter Stegen, 6 -- Olympiakos didn't even open up in the final 10 minutes and looked content with the draw throughout the game, which meant an easy night for the German goalkeeper.

DF Nelson Semedo, 6 -- Frightening pace allows him to get out of problems at the back and to cause problems in attack. This was a low-key performance, but you can see he's got a lot more to give.

DF Javier Mascherano, 7 -- With Gerard Pique suspended, Mascherano was rushed back from a foot infection to take his place in the side. The Argentine was rarely troubled in defence and did most of his work in the opposition's half.

DF Samuel Umtiti, 7 -- One fantastic challenge, flicking the ball with his toe, prevented an almost certain Olympiakos goal on a rare first-half counter-attack. Except for a communication mix up with Ter Stegen moments later, this was another composed performance from the maturing centre-back.

DF Jordi Alba, 6 -- Lively to a point but, unlike on other occasions this season, his final ball was lacking. Had little to do in defence.

MF Sergi Roberto, 6 -- One of Barca's most in-form players was forced off at the end of the first half with a hamstring strain. After another lively performance up until then, the club will hope Wednesday's tests don't throw up anything too serious.

MF Sergio Busquets, 7 -- An assured display from the midfielder, who read the game well and began a number of his side's attacking moves.

MF Paulinho, 5 -- It's been a big week for Paulinho, whose partner gave birth to twins, but he couldn't follow that up with a big performance on the pitch. Lots of energy, but lacked the guile to break down a defensive Olympiakos.

MF Denis Suarez, 6 -- Making his first start in the Champions League this season, the midfielder looked like one of Barca's most dangerous players in the first half. Produced one fine pass for namesake Luis Suarez, who drilled wide. Dropped off in the second half, though.

FW Lionel Messi, 7 -- Two free kicks and two spiraling runs led to four saves from Proto, but not even the Argentine could breach the Greek net. And he tried.

FW Luis Suarez, 5 -- Valverde says he's not worried about the striker's form because he's getting in positions to miss chances. But as the poor performances pile up, he will have to worry about the fact the Uruguayan doesn't just look off the pace but has only contributed three goals this season.

Substitutes

FW Gerard Deulofeu, 5 -- Looked like his pace would produce problems when he first came on but once again his end product was missing. Sent through by Messi to win it late on but lost the ball.

MF Ivan Rakitic, 5 -- Given half an hour to help his side find the breakthrough but didn't have a huge impact.

MF Andre Gomes, NR -- Booked within two minutes of coming on and couldn't produce the magic moment which could have kickstarted his Barca career.
