Match Report: Brong Ahafo United 1-1 Hearts of Oak - Relegation-trapped Apostles hold ten-man Phobians in Sunyani
Ten-man Accra Hearts of Oak shared the spoils with relegation-threatened Brong Ahafo United side in a 1-1 draw at the Coronation Park in Sunyani in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Nana Egyiri gave the troubled side some respite when he converted a penalty-kick in the 8th minute to put them ahead but injury returnee Selasi Adjei stunned the ambitions of the hosts with a 41st minute equaliser.
Hearts were reduced to ten men in the 65th minute when defender Joseph Owusu Bempah was marched off for a bad tackle on a United player midway into the second-half.
The Apostles went into the game under controversial circumstances after doubts were cast over their ambitions to honour the match with their sacked CEO bolting to Italy with their registered strips and player eligibility cards.
But the club's new management led by Nana Frimpong, put their house together and raised a side that were able to frustrate Herbert Addo's side at least for most parts of the game.
After Egyiri's early opener, the hosts fans cheered on their side hoping to end their winless run over the giants since a heavy 4-1 hammering in the 1994 season but were left disappointed when Selasi Adjei pecked the scoring for Hearts who would slid further down the ladder.
