AshantiGold kept their title dream on course with a fight back 2-2 draw at Berekum Chelsea on Saturday.
Striker Emmanuel Osei converted a 78th minute penalty to give the Miners a share of the spoils and open a temporary five-point lead.
It was the visitors who struck first on eight minutes when Osei was felled inside the box by stand-in captain Bennett Ofori when he was put through clear on goal.
AshantiGold’s Yakubu Mohammed picked up the ball and shot powerfully to the bottom corner.
But the Blues recovered beautifully and the club’s top scorer Kofi Owusu snatched the leveller with a blistering header.
Owusu began the move and took his spot inside the box to connect home Justice Anane’s cross.
After the break, Chelsea looked the better side and substitute Latif Salifu profited from a mis-communication between goalkeeper Robert Dabuo and Joshua Tijanii to slot home.
But AshGold remained resilient and in one of those rare move forward, Osei used his skills to outpace his markers and earned a deserved penalty.
