AshantiGold widened the points gap at the top of the table after beating Sekondi Hasaacas 1-0 at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

With Aduana falling at WAFA on Saturday it meant Bashir Hayford's side could afford a breathing space should they win against Hasaacas.

But the Dooo-Boys gave them a tough time at their own backyard as they needed an own-goal scored by Daniel Eugene to win the game.

Though it went into the books as an own-goal, it was through the effort of striker Yakubu Mohammed who had powered a shot at goal. The Hasaacas keeper failed to make a first-time save, spilling the ball to put his defence under pressure. The pressure of Bernard Morrison & co inside the box put pressure on Eugene, whose clearance flipped into his own net.

AshGold have now extended their lead at the top to six points, with Aduana and WAFA following with 19 and 18 points respectively.
